Hey there! I’m Monica Dworshak. I’m a dark fantasy romance author, a wife, a mother, and a proud mega-nerd.

I’ve been writing since I was a kid, but like many of us, life eventually got in the way. I was a "forever student” who changed majors a hundred times before finally earning my B.S. in Kinesiology from TWU. My path back to fiction was unexpected: back in 2022, my husband and I started playing D&D again. When the DM asked for a short paragraph of backstory, I turned in five pages of high-stakes drama. The guys were blown away and told me I needed to write a book, so I finally did.

I feel so lucky to live in an era where we can pursue our dreams through self-publishing. I’m constantly striving to grow as an author and share my creativity (and my sense of humor) with the world. I live in Dallas, Texas, with husband, our two kids, and our dog whose gas is more terrifying than any demon I’ve ever written. When I’m not submerged in the dark world of the Among the Veil series, I can be found swimming, lost in my headphones, or planning my next great escape into the supernatural world of D&D.
